Navigating End-of-Life Choices in Senior Living: Perspectives on Palliative Care and Medical Assistance in Dying
Description

Some people see a distinct difference between palliative care and Medical Assistance in Dying (MAiD), but they are both on the continuum of end of life care. This presentation is designed to address the legal, ethical and moral considerations, especially when there is disagreement with a resident’s choice. A balanced perspective is offered on fostering respectful dialogue and maintaining autonomy. Attendees will gain insights into the MAiD process, including the assessment of capacity and team roles. Practical strategies to support both residents and staff will be highlighted, ensuring compassionate and dignified care at the end of life.
