We will provide an overview of the growing integration of artificial intelligence (AI) technology in the management of both retirement and long-term care homes. We will also discuss the relevant legal frameworks that protect a resident’s privacy. AI and other smart-home devices can be used in long-term care and retirement settings for tasks such as monitoring health, automating administration, and enhancing safety through surveillance. Though these tools may directly improve quality of care, they can raise significant privacy concerns.
