Enhancing Person-Centered Care Through Cultural Foods: Policy and Community Insights
Description

This presentation shares insights from two CIHR-funded projects that explore how long-term care (LTC) homes can better support Indigenous and African, Caribbean, and Black (ACB) residents by improving access to culturally relevant food as part of person-centered care. Findings from our analyses of policy documents that guide LTC food service will be shared to highlight potential opportunities and barriers to food service reform. Additionally, this presentation will share lessons learned from Indigenous Elders and community members, and community food programs who source and deliver culturally relevant foods to ACB community members, offering promising and adaptable practices for LTC settings.
