Implementing a Flexible Schedule: Implementation Learnings and Evaluation Findings
Description
Long-term care (LTC) homes frequently experience staffing shortages, high turnover, and high absenteeism. Addressing this complex challenge will require innovative staffing solutions that foster staff autonomy and well-being. Offering Personal Support Workers the option of 8- or 12-hour shifts has been proposed as a solution to the sector's staffing challenges, by providing better work-life balance and more permanent full-time employment opportunities. The purpose of this session is to introduce the flexible schedule staffing model, describe its implementation, and present findings from an evaluation of the model.
