When Chaos Calls: Planning for the Unplannable in Long-Term Care
Description
In the middle of the night, a flood forced the full evacuation of a long-term care (LTC) home to a community centre for three days. Despite having a robust emergency response plan, the situation demanded rapid, decision-making and collaboration with many health and safety system partners. This session shares best practices, and lessons learned, using this incident as a case study, highlighting the importance of planning, practice, and adaptation in the face of the unexpected. Attendees will walk through the real-life response, participating in a Code Green tabletop exercise to reflect on their own preparedness and resilience strategies.
